John Textor sets deadline for Everton takeover as 777 Partners uncertainty continues
John Textor has set a deadline of this summer to push through a takeover at Everton and accepts it is unlikely to ever happen.
The American revealed earlier in the week that he has held talks over the possibility of buying out Farhad Moshiri at Goodison Park.
777 Partners have a period of exclusivity until the end of the month, while Textor has yet to sell his 45-per-cent stake in Crystal Palace.
Speaking to The Athletic [26 May], Textor confirmed that any deal is a “summer 2024 one”, meaning a deadline of around mid-September.
Textor added: “I suspect the problem with Everton is it won’t be available by the time we would be ready for it.
“We’re not going to rush the situation at Palace, no matter how good another opportunity looks.”

News of Textor being interested in purchasing Everton came as a surprise – but very much a welcome one.
Anybody would be better than 777 Partners, as we have known for a number of months, and Textor has experience of Premier League football.
As things stand, 777 have less than a week to get approval from the Premier League before their period of exclusivity expires.
Exactly what that means, though, is anyone’s guess. It is quite clear Moshiri is hellbent on selling up to the American investment fund.
The only problem with Textor, on the face of it, is it is not known exactly when he will be in a position to attempt a takeover bid.
And even if that was to happen before September, we have already seen how long the process can take.
Everton are in desperate need of a new owner, and time is not exactly on their side right now. If nothing else, this shows there any interested parties out there.
