John Textor slams ‘rotten souls’ over Everton administration amid takeover news

John Textor has labelled those potentially waiting to pounce if Everton go into administration as “rotten souls“.

The Crystal Palace co-owner has stated he is interested in purchasing the Toffees from Farhad Moshiri, but only if a deal can be struck this summer.

Textor therefore knows a deal is unlikely due to 777 Partners still being locked in a period of exclusivity, while he still needs to ratify the sale of his shares in Palace.

Everton could be a more viable option for any other interested parties should the club, in the worst-case scenario, enter administration.

Asked about that scenario in an interview with The Athletic [26 May], Textor said he expects there would be “30 bidders” if that was the case.

The American businessman added: “I don’t want to be involved in a situation where they clean people out, I show up and get a great deal. That’s for somebody else. That’s for the rotten souls of this world.”

Could John Textor purchase Everton?

Textor is clearly talking a good game when it comes to his interest in Everton – and there is no reason not to believe what he says.

In the tell-all chat with The Athletic, he talks of wanting to own a club that can match his own aspirations and does not hold back in stating that the Toffees can give him exactly what he wants.

The American is also honest enough to say that he is unlikely to be given the chance to buy the club as a deal needs to be done this summer – so basically in the next three months or so.

If Farhad Moshiri had any sense whatsoever he would reach out to Textor right now and tell him he will hold off and sell the club to him at the earliest possible opportunity.

777 are clearly not a viable option, which would then mean waiting for Textor to be in the clear in terms of his stake in Palace.

If the Toffees can stay afloat until then under Moshiri, it would surely be the perfect scenario for everyone involved.
