Everton desperately need John Textor as ‘nightmare’ takeover update emerges
Everton are in desperate need of Crystal Palace co-owner John Textor to rescue the club as 777 Partners’ takeover continues to stall.
According to Alan Nixon [27 May], the American sports tycoon flew into Spain for a summit with Farhad Moshiri alongside major moneymen, Andy Bell and George Downing.
It is understood that, in order for Textor to complete the takeover at Goodison Park, he would need to dispose of his shares at Selhurst Park or risk breaking Premier League rules
The journalist then wrote via X on Monday (27 May): “Everton deal is huge and a nightmare to fix. It would take a dreamer with money. And even then…”
When the alternative is 777 Partners, it is clear to see why Evertonians would be excited at the prospect of Textor being the majority shareholder in the Merseyside club.
Could John Textor switch Crystal Palace for Everton ownership?
The Eagles have already made several smart decisions since Textor became a co-owner at Selhurst Park in 2021, with Oliver Glasner’s appointment the latest one.
Considering the severe financial issues at Goodison Park in the last few seasons, with the club being docked eight points in total in this Premier League campaign, Everton need a positive figure at the helm.
Nixon could not be any more spot on with his “nightmare” verdict. It would take a brave business person, like Textor, to take on the challenge that is Everton.
However, someone must do it, and with Moshiri keen to sell, the American could become a very famous figure on the blue side of Merseyside, especially if he can bring the Toffees out of this sticky situation.
It seemed that 777 Partners were going to be the club’s saviours, but since registering their interest in September, whole-fire sales and administration have been mooted as possible eventualities.
Fans, obviously, just want to know that their club is safe, and Textor could be the person to hand that to the club if a deal is worked out between the two parties.
