Desperate Everton takeover update emerges after John Textor news

The Esk has insisted that “Desperation stakes” are at play with whoever is briefing the media on John Textor becoming the next owner of Everton.

The Toffees finance expert posted on X overnight (28 May) pouring water on reports that Textor is close to succeeding Farhad Moshiri as majority shareholder.

Textor, who owns a 45 per cent stake in Crystal Palace, has now been reported as one of the front-runners to purchase Moshiri’s 94.1 per cent holding at Goodison Park, but the Esk stated many reasons that could complicate this move.

Alan Myers also told fans that Textor is not the only party interested in completing a buyout of the Blues, and regardless of how serious the US billionaire is about taking over the club, it’s still too early to definitively say he will be the new owner.

Everton fans finally seeing takeover progress

Regardless of whether Textor can make good on his opening talks with Moshiri, this development is welcome news for the Goodison Park faithful after an eight-month stalemate with 777 Partners.

The Miami-based investment firm has been Moshiri’s long-time preference to complete a buyout of the club, but concerns over funding barely saw them come close to passing the Premier League’s owners and directors’ tests.

Textor, on the other hand, has already done exactly that, with his 45 per cent stake in Crystal Palace showing that he is more than capable of buying a large amount of, and then helping to run a financially stable Premier League club.

Everton have become anything but that under Moshiri’s haphazard tenure, although rules over multi-club ownership may stand in Textor’s way of becoming a majority shareholder at Goodison Park straight away.

Despite this, it’s a sign for Toffees fans that the Iranian is finally taking their plight seriously, and is discussing selling to a potential buyer with a proven track record of Premier League ownership.

In other Everton news, fans will be thrilled as a £3.4billion revelation has emerged surrounding the takeover.
