Everton could move to sign Leeds United star Wilfried Gnonto again
Everton could move to sign Leeds United star Wilfried Gnonto again this summer after their failure to get promoted, according to GOAL.
Writing on their website (28 May), the news outlet report that the Whites are under pressure to sell stars following their playoff final defeat to Southampton at Wembley.
The Toffees chased the Italy international all summer last year, with Gnonto even submitting a transfer request to push through the move. However it never materialised and he stayed at Elland Road, contributing nine goals and three assists in all competitions.
Everton are already keen to sign Jack Harrison on another season-long loan deal, following his successful spell at Goodison Park.
Everton to renew approach for Leeds star Wilfried Gnonto?
There is a need to rejuvenate the attack at Goodison Park this summer, with the club’s biggest issue on the pitch last season being their lack of goals.
Only two sides scored less goals than Sean Dyche’s team last season, so adding more goals to the side should be seen as a priority during the summer window.
But the financial problems at the club mean it won’t be easy to do, and Leeds are notoriously tough negotiators when they need to be and they won’t want to lose Gnonto.

However with a major sale expected before June 30th, that should give them a bit more money to spend and the Yorkshire club will definitely have less leverage in talks than they did 12 months ago.
With Arnaut Danjuma leaving after his loan expired, and the club confident of bringing Harrison back, Gnonto could be the next one through the door.
In other Everton news, the club have made an approach to sign this Bundesliga star with 21 goal involvements last season.
