Everton make approach for Jan-Niklas Beste transfer – Sky Sports
Everton have held discussions about signing FC Heidenheim winger Jan-Niklas Beste this summer, according to Florian Plettenberg.
Writing on his personal X account (28 May), the Sky Sports Germany journalist reports that the 25-year-old is expected to leave his current club this summer in a deal worth around £5.9million.
Villarreal, Fiorentina, Geona and Galatasaray have also made inquiries for the winger, who registered eight goals and 13 assists in the Bundesliga this season, but the player’s preference is to stay in Germany’s top flight.
Everton want to bolster Sean Dyche attack in the transfer window
The Toffees had a good season in 2023/24 when full context is considered, as they avoided relegation with three games to spare despite having eight points deducted from their total.
They also went on a run of just one win in 15 games at one point too, but Dyche helped them to claim several wins that weren’t expected and now they will look to push on further this summer.
The main problem the club had was their lack of goals in attack with Dominic Calvert-Lewin going on a barren run of over 20 games without a goal, and now both Jack Harrison and Arnaut Danjuma’s loans have ended meaning the squad is even weaker.
Dyche is said to be keen to re-sign Harrison on a season-long loan once more from Leeds, but bringing in Beste would provide extra quality and depth and for a relatively cheap fee too.
He is clearly very creative and has a good eye for goal, and at 25 he has got plenty room for further improvement too. This could be a shrewd bit of business if they can get it over the line.
In other Everton news, a club have been forced to cut costs which has allowed the Toffees to make a move for a loan star this summer.
