Everton want to sign Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips on season-long loan – Sky Sports
Everton want to sign Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips on loan, according to Sky Sports News.
Writing on his personal X account (28 May), journalist Vinny O’Connor reports that the Toffees are “looking at taking” the England international to Goodison Park.
The central midfielder spent the second half of last season at West Ham but struggled massively and has now returned to the Etihad Stadium, but is expected to leave this summer.
Everton to sign Kalvin Phillips?
Everton will need to improve their squad ahead of the 2024/25 season having been in another relegation battle, and Phillips could certainly add something to the squad.
Phillips is very capable of playing at the base of a midfield with some excellent defensive attributes, but he is also incredibly comfortable on the ball and is not afraid of some hard work.
So it would make sense that Dyche is interested in a player like that, and with rumours that Amadou Onana could be among big-name exits at the club this summer it would open up a spot in the squad for Philips to come in.
His performances at West Ham were poor but after barely playing for 18 months while at Man City it’s understandable that he needs some rhythm in his game.
His quality is clear for all to see and a loan deal would be a great way of saving what little budget the club has for other areas of the pitch too. This is one to keep an eye on, for sure.
