D-Day emerges in new Everton takeover update on new investors
Everton are set for a “D-Day” on Friday (31 May) which could be decisive in the future of the club’s potential takeover, according to the Daily Mirror.
In their print edition (29 May, page 55), the Mirror reported that the Toffees’ prospective new owners 777 Partners only have until Friday to prove to the Premier League that they have the ability to complete a full buyout of the club.
777 have been in talks to take over at Goodison Park for the last eight months, with the current 31 May deadline the latest of several extensions that Moshiri has gifted the Miami-based investment group.
However, if they – as is expected – fail to gain Premier League approval by this Friday, Moshiri will be free to open talks with a range of other parties interested in buying out his 94.1 per cent stake in the club.
Will 777 Partners become Everton’s new owners?
Everton fans will be hoping the answer to the above question is a resounding no, and all signs point to their hopes being answered by the time Friday’s deadline rolls around.
777 have had well over eight months of talks with both Moshiri and the Premier League; hardly coming close to passing the league’s owners and directors tests despite pumping tens of millions into the Goodison Park club.

In that time, several third parties interested in discussing a takeover have come and gone, frustrated by Moshiri’s seemingly blind loyalty to 777, but a few big names have stuck around and will be ready to spring into action when the deadline passes.
If, as expected, 777 do not make good on their intentions before 31 May, it’s open season again for talks with Moshiri, and with two Everton superfans, as well as a current Premier League co-owner, all keen on a buyout, the Blues’ fortunes may be about to turn a corner.
