Manchester United stance on £100m move for Everton gem Jarrad Branthwaite and Michael Olise emerges

Manchester United are “confident” they can pull off a £100million transfer swoop for Everton star Jarrad Branthwaite and Michael Olise, according to talkSPORT.

The outlet reported on its website on Wednesday (29 May) that the Toffees centre-back could be available for as little as £40million this summer with financial issues seeing the Blues drop their asking price.

Crystal Palace are believed to want £60million this summer to part ways with Olise following his excellent season at Selhurst Park and the Red Devils believe they will be able to secure the signatures of both players.

United’s priority this summer will be signing a new centre-back after it was confirmed Raphael Varane was set to depart Old Trafford, with Jonny Evans also expected to follow him out the exit door.

Will Manchester United sign Everton star Jarrad Branthwaite and Crystal Palace ace Michael Olise?

It feels like Manchester United are being more than a bit optimistic by thinking they will be able to prize Branthwaite away from Goodison Park for anywhere near £40million this summer.

The Toffees do indeed have financial issues as they continue to wait for a takeover to be completed, but the sale of Branthwaite will only be completed if it helps lessen those problems. Therefore, the Blues will hold out for as big a fee as possible.

Sean Dyche will be eager to keep the young defender at Goodison for as long as possible and while he will accept players will have to be sold to help the Toffees avoid another point deduction, he will ensure Everton hold out for a big offer.

Jarrad Branthwaite is a player Everton are desperate to keep hold of this summer.

Whether or not Palace would be willing to let Olise go for £60million is another question altogether. On top of that, you have to wonder if either player would be desperate to go to Old Trafford considering the uncertainty around the club.

United’s interest is Branthwaite won’t be going anywhere anytime soon, but it does seem unlikely that the Blues would even consider £40million.
