Sky Sports News drop Jarrad Branthwaite Everton exit update on air amid Manchester United interest

Manchester United will discuss a summer transfer for Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite regardless of who is in charge at Old Trafford, according to Sky Sports News.

Sky presenter James Savundra shared the news on Sky Sports News (29 May) that the Red Devils remain interested in securing the centre-back who remains high among their list of potential targets heading into the summer window.

The Toffees’ financial position means that they will have to sell one of their stars before the end of June to comply with financial fair play rules and Branthwaite appears to be the player most likely to garner interest.

Speaking on Sky Sports News (29 May) Savundra said: “Some news just into us, Manchester United are interested in signing Jarrad Branthwaite from Everton.

“United are big admirers of the centre-back who was recently selected for the England training squad for Euro 2024. Now recruiting in the heart of the defence is a priority position for the FA Cup winners.

“Branthwaite is high among the names that will be discussed regardless of who the manager is next season.

“Branthwaite is thought to be valued in the region of £60-£70million by Everton who must sell one of their main assets before the end of June to remain in line with PSR. It means that Branthawite may become the more likely player to attract offers before 30 June.”

Will Everton sell Jarrad Branthwaite to Manchester United in the transfer window?

Everton’s current financial position is quickly becoming one of the worst-kept secrets in football as everyone and anyone knows that the Toffees need to sell players this summer to avoid further point deductions.

While there have been suggestions that the Blues could sell one of Amadou Onana or Dominic Calvert-Lewin instead of Branthwaite, neither player will be able to fetch quite the same fee as the centre-back.

If Sean Dyche’s side were able to pocket somewhere between £60million and £70million, that would go a long way towards balancing the books whilst also leaving a bit of money to spend on a potential replacement at Goodison Park

Whether or not Manchester United are willing to enter negotiations at that price remains to be seen. If they look elsewhere, the Toffees may well decide to sell one of their other stars instead this summer.
