Amadou Onana ‘makes it clear he wants to leave’ Everton in brand new interview

Amadou Onana has made it clear he wants to leave Everton after Euro 2024 in a brand new interview, according to journalist Pieter-Jan Calcoen.

Writing on his personal X account (1 June), the Belgian reporter was reacting to a brand new interview the midfielder gave to Nieuwsblad Sport about his future.

But while Onana admitted that he wants to shine at Euro 2024 with Belgium this summer to earn transfer to a top club, he also admitted that the asking price shouldn’t be a problem if a club is truly convinced by his qualities.

“I expect even more from myself than the outside world,” he said.

“In my last weeks at Everton I was sometimes left out of the team – a choice of the coach – but I look at that positively: I will soon be fresher. The European Championships are a wonderful platform to prove myself. You can put yourself in the spotlight.

“It has happened before that players do well at a major tournament and then make a transfer.

“I have no say in what transfer amount I can leave for. Oh well, if a top club is really convinced of my qualities, the asking price will not be an issue.”

But reacting to the quotes, Calcoen admitted that the midfielder was not so subtle with his wishes and expects an exit from Goodison Park during the transfer window.

Amadou Onana exit best scenario for everyone at Everton

There is going to be big exits to come at Goodison Park this summer, and Onana is undoubtedly one of the top candidates to move on.

Jarrad Branthwaite is wanted by several clubs but the Blues are keen to keep hold of the young defender, having placed a world-record price tag on his head to allow him to move on.

But financially the club are in a dire position and they know sales need to be made, which has put the future of players like Jordan Pickford, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Onana in the air too.

But of the four players mentioned, Onana is the one who isn’t guaranteed a starting spot under Dyche when everyone is fit and that suggests he could be the best option to move on.

Top clubs want him and he will no doubt generate a big fee since he signed for over £30million two years ago, so it could be the answer to everyone’s problems in one swoop.
