Manchester City green light Kalvin Phillips move in Everton transfer update
Manchester City are now willing to allow Kalvin Phillips to leave on a season-long loan deal this summer, with Everton among the clubs interested, according to the Daily Mirror.
The report on page 65, 1 June, shares that Newcastle United and Aston Villa are also among the sides targeting the midfielder.
Phillips spent the second half of 2023/24 on loan at West Ham United after struggling for minutes at City, and a permanent exit was believed to be the preference.
Should Everton sign Kalvin Phillips on loan?
Phillips’ career has undoubtedly nosedived since his move from his boyhood club Leeds United to City.
Since joining Pep Guardiola in Manchester in the summer of 2022, Phillips has made just 31 appearances totalling a mere 911 minutes – just over 10 full games’ worth – across all competitions in a season and a half at the Etihad Stadium.
His time at West Ham was similarly underwhelming as he mustered just 319 minutes in 10 appearances across all competitions for the Hammers.
However, the interest of both Newcastle and Villa alongside Everton demonstrates that plenty of clubs still believe in the talent Phillips displayed for Leeds and England just two years ago.

A loan deal is low-risk and, if Sean Dyche can get the England international back to his best, Everton will reap the benefits in 2024/25.
Even if the move does not work out, the nature of the agreement protects Everton – which is necessary given their increasingly precarious financial state.
