Richarlison sends Goodison Park message to Everton in new contact

Former Everton star Richardson has expressed his “love” for Goodison Park in a heartfelt comment on an Instagram post about the stadium.

The Toffees posted a video on their official Instagram account documenting photos and memories recorded at Goodison over the last 132 years, and the Brazilian sent an emotional response.

Everton are scheduled to leave their long-time home for the new-build stadium on Bramley-Moore Dock in the summer of 2025, thus next season will be the 133rd and last they will play at Goodison Park.

Richarlison simply wrote: “I love Goodison Park.”

Everton ready to say goodbye to Goodison Park

Richarlison is far from the only ex-Toffee who will be emotional at the club’s departure from Goodison Park – there isn’t a player, fan or any person living who has called anywhere else their home.

The Blues were the original tenants of Anfield, the long-time home of their Merseyside rivals Liverpool, and the entire club’s history has been wedded to that area of the city.

Everton began playing on the southeast corner of Stanley Park in 1879, shifted further south to Anfield five years later, and in 1892 relocated to the newly-built Goodison Park north of the same patch of grass.

Departing this part of Liverpool, which houses two of the world’s most famous football venues within a stone’s throw of one another, will undoubtedly be a culture shock to regulars at Goodison, as the club sets up shop on the city’s waterfront with the old stadium reportedly set to become a community hub.

The next 12 months – if all developments with the new stadium can be completed on time – will be a celebration of over 130 years of history at Goodison Park, and as former players make appearances documenting their memories, don’t be surprised to see Richarlison paying his respects too.

In other Everton news, a takeover “victory” has sparked calls to remove Farhad Moshiri from the club’s board.
