Senegal media reacts to Idrissa Gueye display as Everton star plays v DR Congo
Everton star Idrissa Gueye has been praised for his performance for Senegal in a 1-1 draw against DR Congo on Thursday (6 June).
The Toffees midfielder featured across 78 minutes for the Lions as they continued their World Cup Qualification process with a draw.
His performance was positive overall which saw Wiw Sport rate him a 6.5 out of ten which was the second best in the starting 11.
The Senegalese outlet said: “The 34-year-old midfielder remains very dominant! Gana impressed in his ability to anticipate and scratch balls.
“His technical mastery has often allowed him to distribute the game without being subjected to opposing pressure.”
Idrissa Gueye impresses for Senegal away from Everton
The Toffees man had a positive season as he helped Sean Dyche to confirm Premier League survival with plenty of time to spare.
Now Gueye has gone off to feature in two World Cup qualifier games for Senegal before his season is officially completed.
It is clear that he impressed in his opening game of the post-season despite his nation only managing a draw against DR Congo.
The Lions have a useful team featuring Premier League regulars like Nicholas Jackson and Pape Sarr but still couldn’t get past the Leopards on Thursday (6 June).
Dyche will be hopeful that Gueye makes it through Senegal’s next clash against Mauritania on Sunday (9 June) without injury.
This will see him able to return for pre-season training and friendlies for Everton later in the summer ahead of the Premier League season.
It is great to see the Toffees’ stars impressing on the international stage even if the result wasn’t what he wanted.
