Everton identify Tammy Abraham transfer amid Dominic Calvert-Lewin contract update

Everton have identified Roma striker Tammy Abraham as a potential replacement for Dominic Calvert-Lewin this summer, according to The Boot Room.

The online source reported [10 June] that the Toffees are becoming concerned over their striker’s future at Goodison Park, with the club struggling to agree a new deal with Calvert-Lewin.

With just 12 months left on the 27-year-old’s contract, Sean Dyche could welcome Abraham back to the Premier League following three campaigns in Serie A if a loan deal with a purchase option can be thrashed out.

While the majority of fans at Goodison Park would be disappointed to see Calvert-Lewin leave this summer, it may be an eventuality that the club have to prepare for.

Entering into the final 12 months of his contract, he has also received interest from Newcastle United, who are considering a significant bid for the striker.

Despite his talent on the pitch and passion for the Toffees, Calvert-Lewin has often been injury-prone and only managed to hit a purple patch in the final few weeks of the season, albeit helping the club to survive relegation and climb up the Premier League table.

Due to the striker’s injury record, some fans might be, understandably, wary of Abraham coming to Goodison Park this summer, having been sidelined for most of the 2023/24 campaign.

However, now that he has recovered, with a summer to work back to full fitness and sharpness, and his previous experience in the Premier League, it could be an interesting switch.

He scored 30 goals in 79 appearances for Chelsea following a successful loan spell with Aston Villa in the Championship, though he was slowly edged out at Stamford Bridge as the Blues continued to target pricey attackers.

Depending on the price tag that Roma request this summer, the 26-year-old could certainly be an interesting signing, especially if Calvert-Lewin is to depart Goodison Park.

In other Everton news, the club are set for a “huge boost” with a takeover announcement imminent at Goodison Park.
