Dominic Calvert-Lewin exit update as Everton star linked to Chelsea and Newcastle transfers
Dominic Calvert-Lewin won’t be leaving Everton for Chelsea during the upcoming transfer window, according to The Athletic.
The outlet reported via the website on 11 June that the striker is “not heading to Stamford Bridge” despite links to a move, as a goalscorer is sought in West London.
However, there remains interest in the 27-year-old from Newcastle who have long been monitoring him, so a transfer exit cannot be entirely ruled out.
And such a departure is said to likely be necessary if the Toffees are to follow through on a move for Armando Broja, amid talks with Chelsea over the Albanian who has number of clubs in the conversation for a deal this summer.
Everton and Chelsea in conversation over Armando Broja
Sean Dyche’s top striker is not someone the manager will likely be eager to lose this summer even if Calvert-Lewin has been short of his best for a number of seasons in the midst of extensive fitness struggles.
He bounced back to a decent degree last term to play 38 games in all competitions, while scoring eight times, for the goal-shy Toffees, and has been offered a contract extension with a year left on his current deal [BBC Sport, 31 May].
If he was to go Everton would surely like him to sign it and bring in a more substantial fee, although Newcastle may turn their attentions elsewhere if they are obliged to pay full price.
Kevin Thelwell has already admitted that sales will be necessary this summer, but the club are also holding out against cut-price offers for the likes of Jarrad Branthwaite, so the level of who will have to be sacrificed remains to be seen.
The prospect of a fire sale has reportedly been averted thanks to cost-cutting measures behind the scenes [BBC Sport, 3 June], but there are a series of players the club are said to be willing to part with to avoid losing the star defender [Times, 30 May].

The Toffees would surely like to avoid losing Calvert-Lewin as well but the fact they have entered into discussions over Broja suggests they are aware of the possibility that he could leave.
Much will depend on whether he signs a new deal, as Everton aren’t currently a club who have the luxury of being able to lose players for free and this summer is currently the last chance to bank a decent amount for him.
