Everton takeover latest as new billionaire-backed investor in talks with Farhad Moshiri
A new Everton bidder has made a concrete offer to current owner Farhad Moshiri at Goodison Park, according to Paul Joyce.
The Times journalist reported on Thursday (13 June) that Moshiri has received a new offer from UK-based investor Vici Private Finance, who are backed by at least two billionaires.
Vici are understood to have begun discussions with the Toffees owner several months ago but only offered concrete takeover terms in the last week following the collapse of 777 Partners agreement on Merseyside.
Keith Harris is advising the firm’s bid having previously been associated with the Toffees when he brought him into their board of directors in 2016, even becoming deputy chairman for a spell.
Will Farhad Moshiri sell his stake in Everton after 777 Partners deal collapsed at Goodison Park?
Everton have waited ages for a genuine takeover bid to arrive and then several have all appeared at once at Goodison Park following the collapse of 777 Partners’ bid in recent weeks on Merseyside.
While the validity of some of these bidders’ proposals has been questioned in recent days, it is clear that there are a number of parties interested in acquiring the Toffees, the question remains however, who will Moshiri choose?
The Blues current chief is still believed to be holding out for a fee for his shares in the club, despite them being all but worthless because of the Toffees’ debt and it remains to be seen whether anyone is willing to match those terms.
However, if Vici Private Finance have made a genuine offer to the British-Irianian businessman, he could well have a decision to make sooner rather than later.
Ultimately, it is in everyone’s best interest to get this deal over the line as quickly and as smoothly as possible. It will be interesting to see what Moshiri and the prospective buyers do next.
