Manchester United desperate to secure Jarrad Branthwaite as Everton transfer update emerges
Manchester United are “desperate” to secure a summer transfer for Everton star Jarrad Branthwaite in the summer transfer window, according to Alan McKinlay.
Reports have emerged suggesting the Red Devils have agreed personal terms with the defender’s representatives to bring him to Old Trafford this summer, but no agreement has been reached between the clubs.
The Toffees star has been linked with a move away for the majority of the Premier League season and the Daily Mirror’s McKinlay has suggested that United are doing everything in their power to try and secure a new centre-back.
Speaking on talkSPORT on Thursday (13 June, 23:55) he said: “They really are desperate for a centre-back they can rely on and he is, judging by that price the hottest centre-back property.
“He’s English as well and it’s the kind of move that Ratcliffe wants to make now that he’s got hold of the reins if you like and he’s got enough employees looking out to boost the squad so it sounds like it would be a very positive mood for United.”
Will Manchester United sign Everton star Jarrad Branthwaite during the summer transfer window?
Hopefully, Manchester United’s desperation should only further play into Everton’s hands this summer as they look to get the highest possible fee for Branthwaite’s services between now and the start of next season.
If the Red Devils are that desperate for a reliable centre-half, they should be more than willing to match the Toffees’ asking price to get the 21-year-old through the door which will be music to the ears of the Blues.

While some will always argue that Sean Dyche’s side have valued the defender too highly this summer, the argument from those within Goodison Park will be that he is worth that fee to them given the role he played last term.
As a full England international with a season of Premier League football under his belt, it shouldn’t be a surprise that the Blues have placed such a fee on his head. All that remains to be seen is whether or not United will match it.
