Manchester United £70m stance on Jarrad Branthwaite shared as Everton to reject bid

Manchester United have no intentions to offer £70million for Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite this summer, according to James Ducker.

The Telegraph journalist reported on 14 June that the Toffees are expected to reject United’s opening offer for the 21-year-old defender.

It’s understood that the bid is worth £43million which is nowhere close to what the England international is valued at Goodison Park.

Via Twitter, Ducker wrote: “MUFC’s opening offer for Jarrad Branthwaite is worth a total of £43m, including add ons. Expected to be rejected out of hand by #EFC. United no intention of going near £70m mark.”

Everton are unlikely to lower the asking price for Jarrad Branthwaite

The Toffees are unlikely to lower their price as Branthwaite is only 21 years old and has already shown impressive form, which suggests he has significant potential for further development.

As he continues to improve, his value is likely to increase, making the Toffees reluctant to sell him for less than their valuation.

The England international is a left-footed centre-back, a trait that is relatively rare in the football world.

Left-footed players are often in high demand due to their ability to provide balance to a team’s defence.

This scarcity of left-footed centre-backs means that Everton can command a higher price for Branthwaite.

The club may need to sell players to balance their books or fund new signings, but they will likely be cautious not to undervalue a promising talent like Branthwaite.

Especially while dealing with a club like Manchester United who are known to overpay for their targets, the Toffees cannot be the ones giving in.
