Ashley Young contract decision made at Everton with new offer tabled
Ashley Young has confirmed he is close to signing a new contract with Everton after fresh talks over the summer.
Speaking on talkSPORT’s Breakfast Show (17 June), the veteran star revealed that it’s just fine details that are currently missing and then he will “sign that contract”.
Young played 34 times for Sean Dyche’s side last season after arriving on a free transfer, and will now extend his stay for a further 12 months in a boost to the side after fellow defender Seamus Coleman did the same earlier this month.
“We’re close to everything being resolved,” he said.
“There’s been talks over the summer.
“It’s just about getting the fine details sorted now and I’ll sign that contract.”
Sean Dyche wants experience at Everton
One of the biggest factors in a Dyche team over his career has been that he values experience in his squad, and Young provides exactly that.
Having won the Premier League with Manchester United after shining with Watford and Aston Villa also, Young has transitioned to become a versatile full-back, able to play on both sides, while also providing a midfield option if necessary.
His delivery from set-pieces also provides a threat for another area that Dyche is always big on having as a key weapon, so it makes sense that he was offered a new deal.

With Coleman missing much of last season through injury Young also stepped up as a leader on and off the pitch, and that is going to be necessary again with such a big summer ahead and hopes that a relegation battle won’t be on the cards.
It’s great news for the Toffees and fans will be happy to see him sticking around for another 12 months.
In other Everton news, a report has shared if Dan Friedkin is planning on sacking Sean Dyche once he completes his takeover of the club.
