Everton takeover at risk of collapse as Dan Friedkin ‘conflict’ is mooted
Bryan King has raised doubts over whether or not Dan Friedkin is the right man to complete a takeover at Everton.
The ex-Goodison scout claims the American’s ownership of Roma could lead to a “conflict” of interest.
As reported by Bloomberg (15 June), Friedkin is in advanced talks to purchase Farhad Moshiri’s majority stake in Everton.
However, it is also noted that talks could still fall apart with a potential deal subject to further due diligence.
And King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – has raised doubts over Friedkin.
“Multi-club models seem to be more commonplace in football now,” King said.
“Therefore, it is not a surprise that this could happen at Everton. However, I always feel that there is a tremendous conflict when an owner has an interest in multiple clubs.
“What if Roma and Everton were to play each other?
“This man hasn’t exactly been ultra-successful with Roma either, he had the run-in with Jose Mourinho of course.”
Is Dan Friedkin the right man to take Everton forward at Goodison Park?
This takeover decision needs to be the right one.
After the mess which has been created over the past few years the last thing that supporters need is another owner who is going to plunge the club into financial disarray.
Moshiri’s time in the hot seat has been nothing short of a disaster.
However, he has the chance to slightly make amends by selling his stake to someone who will restore the club to its former glory.

While he will be most interested in the money on offer, he must also pick someone who has the club’s best interests at heart.
Although Friedkin’s ownership of Roma might not prove to be a problem, Everton need to be sure of that before any takeover is complete.
In other Everton news, the club have been handed a boost after terms were officially agreed at Goodison Park.
