Everton told Amadou Onana transfer value has plummeted amid Arsenal links

Dan Bardell believes Amadou Onana may have decreased in value for Everton over the last 12 months ahead of a potential summer move.

The Belgium international has been heavily linked to Arsenal and, more recently, Aston Villa and PSG more recently [The Times, 14 June].

The Toffees are eager to receive a transfer fee in the region of £50million for his signature this summer [Liverpool Echo] in a deal that could help ease PSR problems.

With Everton needing to sell some talent this summer, Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell has suggested they could move on the 22-year-old.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Bardell said: “I think Everton would much rather lose Onana than Jarrad Branthwaite.

He was a big part of one of the best defences in the Premier League last season and had a strong partnership with James Tarkowski.

Onana may not be as good as he was in previous seasons, but you can tell there’s a good player there with a really high ceiling.

I just think if Everton had sold him 12 months earlier they would of extracted a better fee for him. I’m not convinced his value is as high as it was. The transfer landscape is changing but it is one to keep an eye on.

Everton could move on Amadou Onana

The Toffees need to sell players this summer – there is no secret about that after the season that they have just had.

With Farhad Moshiri in charge, there has been a struggle with finances that has seen him look to sell to new investors this summer.

Even if this does happen, with updates coming from Dan Friedkin in recent days, there could still be a need to sell.

Onana did find himself out of Sean Dyche’s starting XI towards the end of last season, so a sale may prove beneficial to all parties.

The Belgian is a great player but he may suit a side higher up the table who keeps possession of the ball more regularly.

With the riches of Arsenal and PSG showing an interest in the midfielder, the Toffees can certainly demand a sizable fee.

It may therefore suit the Toffees, in their pursuit of keeping hold of Branthwaite, to sell Onana this summer.
