Brentford and West Ham United make move for Everton star Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Brentford and West Ham United have made contact with Everton about signing Dominic Calvert-Lewin, according to Chronicle Live.
Writing on their website (24 June), the news outlet report that Newcastle have dropped out of the race for the 27-year-old due to the Toffees’ asking price.
But they also revealed that the two London clubs have also made their move for the forward, who is entering the final year of his contract at Goodison Park and has no intention of signing a new deal currently [The Times, 22 June].
Everton plan for Dominic Calvert-Lewin Goodison Park exit
While the Toffees are keen to keep hold of Calvert-Lewin [Liverpool Echo, 31 May] after finally nursing him back to full fitness, it may be quite difficult for that to be the case.
At 27-years-old and in the final year of his idea and with his injury record, there is a very real chance that this is the last big deal that he gets to sign in his career.
Everton are in the process of bringing in Iliman Ndiaye in an eight-figure deal, with Fabrizio Romano claiming that just final details are missing from an agreement, and Jack Harrison already confirmed as returning on another season-long loan.

That suggests that the club are planning for life should Calvert-Lewin move on, and if they are able to get their asking price it would be a big help to the budget.
It’s almost a win-win scenario for the club as if he moves on they get the cash and if he stays they’ll keep a key player, but there is a nightmare scenario that exists where he stays without re-signing and leaves the club vulnerable to a potential free exit next year.
In other Everton news, the club are “very close” to sealing a new eight-figure deal for a striker.
