Yankuba Minteh makes Everton transfer call after new Sean Dyche talks

Newcastle attacker Yankuba Minteh has set his heart on joining Everton this summer, according to Gazzetta Dello Sport.

The Italian outlet reported in its print edition (27 June, page 26) that the 19-year-old is set on a move to Goodison Park, despite a transfer seeming unlikely.

Minteh has spoken with Sean Dyche over the prospects of a move, with a fee of roughly £25million seen as enough to pry the highly-rated forward away from St James’ Park.

However, Newcastle cooling their pursuit of Dominic Calvert-Lewin may have scuppered Minteh’s chances of moving the other way, with Roma and Lyon named as alternative destinations for the Gambian [L’Equipe, 24 June].

Could Everton still complete Yankuba Minteh transfer?

It seems that Minteh is increasingly keen on a move to Goodison Park, particularly with Newcastle openly looking to sell him as a way to ease profit and sustainability worries [Fabrizio Romano, 24 June].

Those worries have been tenfold on the blue half of Merseyside in recent months, but the impending takeover of Roma owner Dan Friedkin looks likely to bring newfound financial stability to the club.

Whether stability translates into having £25million spare to pay Newcastle’s asking price for the winger is a different question, particularly with the Toffees having to sell players themselves to satisfy PSR rules [Gianluca Di Marzio 22 June].

But with Friedkin set to be in control of both Roma and the Toffees, a deal could yet be struck whereby the Texan decides which of his two clubs he’d be most keen on seeing Minteh play for next season [La Repubblica, 22 June].

This is certainly still one to watch over the next couple of months.
