Everton enter summer transfer race for Hull City star Jaden Philogene as £16m update emerges

Everton are preparing a £16million summer transfer push for Hull City winger Jaden Philogene, according to the Daily Mail.

The outlet reported on its website on Friday (28 June) that the Toffees have entered the race for the 22-year-old who has attracted interest from Barcelona and Tottenham following an excellent season in the Championship.

West Ham have also been impressed by the England youth international’s exploits with the Tigers and are currently considering whether or not to submit a bid to bring him to the London Stadium.

Will Everton win the summer transfer race for Jaden Philogene amid Hull City exit talk?

Many expected this summer to be rather quiet at Goodison Park, but it feels as though the transfer window has really sparked into life over the last couple of days as we come closer to the Premier League’s PSR deadline.

Although the Blues’ focus will be primarily directed to keeping some of their brightest talents on Merseyside, Sean Dyche and his team will be keen to add to his squad, particularly at the top end of the field.

With speculation surrounding Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Arnaut Danjuma’s loan spell coming to an end, Philogene could provide the perfect solution for the Toffees if he can carry his form from the EFL into the Premier League.

For Hull, he has impressed out wide while also managing to carry a genuine threat from the wing which helped the Tigers come within touching distance of the playoffs. Granted, it was in the second tier, but his technical ability is there for everyone to see.

Paying £16million for a player who is yet to star in the top flight is a gamble. However, it could well be one worth taking as should Philogene continue to improve as most expect him to, he will be worth an awful lot more than that in the future.

Hopefully, Everton will be able to get this one over the line.
