Everton to seal Wilfred Ndidi transfer after new Amadou Onana admission

Dan Bardell believes that Everton should look to sign Wilfred Ndidi on a free transfer from Leicester City this summer if Amadou Onana is sold.

Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna has reported (20 June) that the Toffees were going head-to-head with Marseille and Lyon to sign the Nigerian this summer.

The 27-year-old is out of contract at the King Power and will be available for free.

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell has suggested that if Onana departs then the Leicester man could be a useful addition.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Bardell said: “From a financial perspective, it would be good business, signing him on a free transfer.

Ndidi is a midfield destroyer. I think if Onana was sold and he came in they could shape the squad better in other positions with the finances and that would be positive business.

He’s a good player but things have maybe gone a bit stale at Leicester for him. A few years ago everyone wanted him and he’s been part of a team that was consistently in the top six of the Premier League for seasons.

He’s shown that in the right system, he can be a good player and I could see him suiting Sean Dyche’s set-up.

Everton could sign Wilfred Ndidi

There has been no secret that Onana is an option for Everton to sell this summer as they look to fund additions to Sean Dyche’s squad.

He has been linked to Premier League sides like Arsenal and Tottenham while European sides including PSG have expressed an interest.

The Toffees could demand up to £50m for his signature this summer which could prove to be a useful piece of business.

Although he wouldn’t be a direct replacement for the Belgian, Ndidi is available on a free transfer and could represent a good signing.

He has plenty of experience in the Premier League and European competition which would be positive to add to Dyche’s squad.

Ndidi would be a point of difference in the Everton squad as he offers different things to Idrissa Gueye at the base of midfield.

On a free, Everton could go much further wrong than bringing him in from Leicester this summer.
