Everton to swoop for Che Adams transfer as Wolves development emerges

Everton are expected to swoop for Che Adams after Wolves pulled out of a deal to sign him at the 11th hour, according to Birmingham World.

Writing on their website (4 July), the news outlet report that the Scotland international was on the verge of signing for Wolves on a free transfer after leaving Southampton at the end of his contract, but they pulled out after completing a deal for Jorgen Strand Larsen.

That has left the Toffees with a clear run at the 27-year-old forward who he tried to sign last summer, although they are yet to make an official offer as things stand.

Everton to sign Che Adams on a free transfer

The striker position is one that desperately needs additions this summer because the team hasn’t scored anywhere near enough goals with the quality they have.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin only managed eight goals last season and he has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Goodison Park now, with interest from Newcastle still lurking [Luke Edwards, 24 June] in the background.

Beto is also wanted by Fenerbahce while Youssef Chermiti isn’t first-team ready yet, but Sean Dyche has moved to bring in Iliman Ndiaye already to bolster the squad.

However, Adams is a Premier League proven striker with a good goalscoring record and on a free transfer there is minimal risk involved in the deal.

It would be a great bit of business if Everton can get it done, and with Wolves now out of the picture there may not be a better window to move to get it sealed.

In other Everton news, the club want to sign an £8.4m midfielder from Ligue 1 this summer.
