Everton send proposal to Jaden Philogene for transfer as Barcelona update drops – Fabrizio Romano
Everton have made an offer to Jaden Philogene to sign him from Hull City ahead of Barcelona, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Writing on his personal X account (3 July), the reliable transfer journalist reports that the Spanish giants had made a move for the winger but a deal is now “complicated and unlikely” as he is giving his priority to a Premier League transfer.
Everton have sent him an offer, along with Crystal Palace and Ipswich to convince him to join them and a decision is “expected soon”.
Everton to sign Jaden Philogene from Hull City
Philogene has attracted plenty of attention this summer from top-flight clubs after his performances in the Championship last season, so it’s no surprise Everton are in the mix.
The Toffees are keen to add depth and quality to their squad to avoid another relegation battle, and Dyche is clearly a big fan of the 22-year-old England youth international.
But after signing Jack Harrison on loan for another season and having Dwight McNeil in the side, who is already a Dyche favourite, he has a fight on his hands to secure regular first-team football.
However, there is a gap in the squad for him after Arnaut Danjuma left the club at the end of his loan having failed to make an impact in his year at Goodison Park.
Philogene has a decision to make but for Everton the biggest hurdle has been cleared, and that’s the interest of multi-time European champions Barcelona.
In other Everton news, a £15m development has emerged in the race for a midfielder several Premier League clubs want to sign.
