Everton set sights on signing Jackson Tchatchoua soon after confirmed transfer as major profit eyed
Everton want to sign Hellas Verona’s Jackson Tchatchoua just a month after he completed a permanent transfer to the Italian side, according to Tutto Mercato Web.
The Italian outlet reported via their website on 3 July that the Toffees have “set their sights” on the Cameroon international, who the Serie A club only confirmed as making his loan move from Charleroi in Belgium permanent on 3 June, signing on a three-year deal.
TMW report that the deal only cost €2million [£1.69m] last month but with Everton now wanting to bring in the 22-year-old, who can play at right-back or on the wing, Verona are looking to make a sizeable immediate profit by asking for €8m [£6.77m].
Sean Dyche and Kevin Thelwell eye another Everton signing
Although the mark-up is four times what Tchatchoua cost just a matter of weeks ago it is still not an excessive fee if the club believe he can be an asset in multiple positions.
Sean Dyche has seen Jack Harrison return to the club on loan from Leeds United and versatile attacker Iliman Ndiaye signed from Marseille to add to Dwight McNeil as his options out wide going forward.
But if the manager sees the two-cap Tchatchoua as an upgrade to his right-back options as well it could be an investment worth making.
Ashley Young is technically an option for both full-back and winger spots and has signed a new one-year contract extension, but will turn 39 in less than a week and proved erratic at key times last season.
Club captain Seamus Coleman has also signed a new deal but is himself 36 in October and has been effected by injuries in recent seasons.

Behind the two veterans Ben Godfrey was used last term but has now been sold to Atalanta, while ex-Rangers man Nathan Patterson has had a miserable time.
Dyche doesn’t seem convinced by the Scot and was involved in an awkward exchange in Portugal last term where a joke that went wrong led to him needing to apologise to his player, so there looks to be a need to bring in a reliable right-back who the manager trusts to play regularly.
That could be Tchatchoua apparently still without breaking the bank, while there also appear to be action under way to add on the left of defence as well amid links to Fenerbahce’s Jayden Oosterwolde [Caught Offside, 21 June].
In other Everton news, the Toffees are one of the favourites to add yet another highly-rated talent after confirming three separate deals in a signing blitz.
