Everton want to sign Reims midfielder Amir Richardson as £8.4m update emerges
Everton want to sign Reims midfielder Amir Richardson this summer ahead of Leicester and Udinese, according to L’Equipe.
Writing on their website (3 July), the French news outlet report the 22-year-old midfielder could leave Ligue 1 for more regular football with Reims demanding £8.4m to let him leave.
However, so far those demands are seen as too high by all interested parties and have even seen Strasbourg withdraw from negotiations entirely for the Morocco international.
Everton want to sign Amir Richardson to bolster midfield
Sean Dyche is desperate to bolster his midfield options this summer after losing Andre Gomes and Dele Alli and so far only bringing in Tim Iroegbunam to replace them.
There is also the added fact that Amadou Onana is expected to move on [TEAMtalk, 15 June], and that deal could now accelerate after Belgium were eliminated from Euro 2024 in recent days.
So alternative options are needed and the club are clearly doing their homework and scouting across Europe’s top leagues to get the best value for money they can.
Richardson is a highly talented player and at 6ft 4 would fit in perfectly in a Sean Dyche team, but the deal has to make sense with the Toffees being sensible in this transfer window.
Everton won’t be drawn into any bidding wars and know they have a limited budget, but there is a deal to do there if they decide Richardson is the man to solve their problems.
In other Everton news, the club have tabled an offer for an in-demand attacker according to Fabrizio Romano.
