Everton and Ipswich Town target Jacob Greaves granted permission to undergo medical

Everton now seem set to miss out on the services of Hull City defender Jacob Greaves who will be moving to Ipswich Town.

According to the Athletic on 12 July, Hull have granted permission to the 23-year-old to undergo a medical at the newly-promoted Premier League side.

The 23-year-old centre-back will move to Portman Road for a £15million fee over the coming days.

This will come as a huge blow for the Toffees after HITC reported on 14 June that they were eyeing Greaves as a replacement for Jarrad Branthwaite.

Everton must quickly identify an alternative for Jarrad Branthwaite

The Toffees must swiftly identify an alternative for Branthwaite as Manchester United are likely to make another bid for the defender.

Branthwaite has been a key player for the club and losing him without a suitable replacement would be detrimental to the team’s performance.

Greaves was previously touted as a potential replacement, but the 23-year-old is now set to join Ipswich Town.

This leaves the Merseyside outfit scrambling to find a suitable replacement in a short timeframe.

The urgency to find a replacement is heightened by Manchester United’s persistent interest in Branthwaite.

Identifying a suitable alternative and finalising a deal quickly will be crucial for Sean Dyche’s side to maintain a strong defence and potentially use the funds from Branthwaite’s sale to strengthen other areas of the team.

In other Everton news, the Toffees have agreed a multi-million fee in principle to seal yet another transfer this summer.
