Everton submit second Davinson Sanchez bid amid Crystal Palace competition

Everton have submitted an improved offer to Galatasaray for defender Davinson Sanchez as talks continue between the two clubs, according to Ajansspor.

The Turkish outlet reported [13 July] that the Toffees have offered €20million (£16.8million) for the former Tottenham centre-back after seeing an initial €18million (£15.2million) bid rejected [Aslinda].

It is understood that Galatasaray are holding out for a €25million (£21million) offer, with Crystal Palace also keeping an eye on the situation as current defender Marc Guehi continues to attract attention.

Everton continue to target Davinson Sanchez transfer

Given the recent news surrounding Amadou Onana’s proposed £50million move to Aston Villa this summer, as per David Ornstein, the Toffees may no longer be desperate to add a new defender to the ranks.

If the midfielder’s move to Villa Park goes through, the club will feel a lot less pressure from PSR to sell the likes of Jarrad Branthwaite and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, which would save Sean Dyche’s defensive problem before it has even become one.

With over 200 appearances during his time with Tottenham, Sanchez gained plenty of Premier League experience but never really lived up to the hype from his Ajax days.

Now, at 28 years of age, the Colombian may just feel he has something to prove back in England after leaving for Turkey last summer and making 32 appearances in all competitions.

There is no doubt that Sanchez has the ability to be a decent defender in England’s top tier, but he is highly unlikely to start ahead of Branthwaite and James Tarkowski.

With Galatasaray’s asking price seemingly over the £20million mark, it seems like a lot of cash for the Toffees to splash on a new defender who is more than likely going to occupy the bench.

Although Ben Godfrey has left for Atalanta in Serie A, Dyche still has Michael Keane at his disposal, and unless an update emerges surrounding his future, the Toffees will not be desperate to add Sanchez to their ranks.
