Everton favourite James Tarkowski makes personal plea to appear on BBC show

Everton defender James Tarkowski has made a plea to appear on BBC TV show Would I Lie To You.

The 31-year-old has admitted to enjoying the occasional quiz show, revealing much about his life during an Amazon documentary released earlier this year, titled ‘Married To The Game’.

Tarkowski has been at Goodison Park since the summer of 2022, having arrived from Burnley and since repaid the faith shown in him by Sean Dyche, though his eyes have now turned to more TV appearances.

Taking to X on Wednesday (17 July), BBC journalist Shamoon Hafez wrote: “Truth or Lie? James Tarkowski wants to appear on Would I Lie To You.

“It’s true! The Everton defender has set me on a mission to get him on the hit BBC show after our chat this morning.”

Speaking via BBC Sport, Tarkowski said: “I would do I’m A Celebrity and I quite enjoy Would I Lie To You. I like quiz shows. If you’ve got any contacts, let me know.”

Everton ace James Tarkowski makes TV plea

Tarkowski looks to be one of the biggest personalities in the Toffees dressing room, which is to be expected as a no-nonsense centre-back with Jordan Pickford shouting behind him.

He also seems to be an extremely humble, down-to-earth person, a side to footballers that many fans forget exists.

I’m A Celebrity looks to be the best route onto television for the England international, with the likes of Neil Ruddock, Jimmy Bullard, Kieron Dyer, Wayne Bridge, Harry Redknapp and Robbie Savage appearing in the show.

Given his early introduction to an Amazon documentary, following in the footsteps of David Beckham’s Netflix documentary, it may not be too long before Tarkowski leaves the football world behind to start a career in media.

That would not be the most unlikely of career paths, with footballers becoming smart about their steps following their on-pitch careers.

Ben Foster and Peter Crouch are prime examples, both being able to boast either a thriving YouTube or podcasting career after retiring from the beautiful game.

And many fans would love to see Tarkowski on either of these TV shows. So, echoing his request, if anyone has the right contacts, let him know.
