Everton praised for ‘excellent’ Amadou Onana agreement after new transfer development

Bryan King believes Everton have agreed an “excellent” deal with Aston Villa for Amadou Onana.

The ex-Goodison scout claims the midfielder would have been keen to play in the UEFA Champions League next season.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano via X (13 July), Onana is set to join Villa in a deal worth £50million with a sell-on clause included in the agreement.

A medical is being booked with the deal set to be signed this week.

And King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – feels that this transfer benefits everybody involved.

“This is an excellent bit of business for Everton,” King said.

“They’ve got themselves a good fee for Onana, a realistic one too. He did reasonably well at the Euros and I think he will want to play Champions League football.

“He isn’t going to play in that competition at Everton so now it is down to just finalising the deal. This will also help to balance the books at Goodison Park too”

This felt like an inevitable move at Goodison Park.

While the Toffees would have no doubt been keen to keep hold of Onana, he was always going to be interested in a move away from the club.

Therefore, securing a £50million fee and a sell-on-clause is a good bit of business.

It will help the Toffees steady the ship ahead of next season as they look to restore some stability at Goodison Park.
