Jarrad Branthwaite exit update emerges at Everton as Dan Friedkin takeover collapses
Everton are not under any immediate pressure to sell Jarrad Branthwaite following the collapse of the Friedkin Group’s takeover, according to Kieran Maguire.
The Toffees have confirmed talks have ended with the prospective owners and Everton insider Bryan King exclusively told Goodison News on 7 July that the deal hit a “stumbling block” due to money owed to 777 Partners.
Some have since speculated that the collapse of this takeover could see the Blues “crown jewels’ sold this summer, but football finance expert Kieran Maguire has insisted that isn’t the case.
Speaking on Sky Sports News on Friday (19 July) he said: “Certainly there’s no pressure at present because they’ve had all this cash which has come from a variety of sources which I listed earlier, I think they’re fine for a few months.
“If we get to the end of August and there’s no sign of progress, perhaps the club might take the view of just having some sort of insurance policy with selling a player, but it doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll have to go and sell the crown jewels.
“Will players potentially leave? Yes, but that’s the case at every club in every season. I don’t think Everton are under any pressure, especially not for the next four or five weeks.
“Then, they can sort of reconsider with regards to how much progress has been made with a prospective owner as we get closer to the end of August.”
Will Everton sell Jarrad Branthwaite amid Goodison Park takeover drama?
Just when things started to seem a bit more positive at Goodison Park, Farhad Moshiri has managed to make things feel all the more miserable once again as the takeover saga takes yet another twist.
The Friedkin Group had appeared to be the perfect owners for the Toffees and while there was confidence from all sides a deal would be reached, it has now come crashing down with the Blues back at square one.
However, it is at least good news that Branthwaite won’t be forced out the door following these new developments.
Everton have stood firm with their asking price this summer and it would have been awful if that hard work was immediately undone.
Hopefully, a new owner can be found before the end of the summer transfer window and talks can begin progressing so that the Toffees don’t have to sell a star to keep their heads above the water.
