
Everton stance on Jarrad Branthwaite sale to Manchester United after Friedkin takeover collapse emerges
Everton have told Manchester United that they will not sell Jarrad Branthwaite this summer unless their asking price is met, despite their takeover collapsing according to David Ornstein.
Writing on his personal X account (20 July), The Athletic journalist reports that the Toffees have not changed their stance despite the Friedkin Group withdrawing from the process to buy the club on Friday [The Athletic, 19 July].
Manchester United are considering a third and final offer for the 22-year-old defender amid the financial uncertainty at Goodison Park [Telegraph, 19 July], but the Blues are not interested in a cut-price deal and have told the Red Devils as much with no further offers welcome.
Everton refuse to budge on Jarrad Branthwaite
It’s the news that every Everton fan wanted to hear, but Jarrad Branthwaite won’t be going anywhere this summer.
The club have made their stance abundantly clear and after already having two offers rejected and then moving on to a new target, Manchester United have made theirs clear too. They are not going to agree on a price.
That’s fantastic news for the Blues, who would have been worrying about the future of the team following the collapse of the takeover and financial uncertainty that is now overshadowing the club once again.
A US Consortium led by Kevin Malone is interested and looking into how to deal with the club’s debt which caused the Friedkin Group takeover to fall through [BBC Sport, 19 July], and if something can happen quickly there it will add to the positivity.
But for now, regardless of the off-pitch happenings, Branthwaite will be wearing royal blue in the 2024/25 season for Everton and that matter is now considered settled.
