Jarrad Branthwaite to stay at Everton after Goodison deal agreed – Sky Sports journalist
Dan Bardell believes Everton selling Amadou Onana to Aston Villa will help to keep Jarrad Branthwaite.
Villa confirmed the signing of the Belgium international on 22 July via their official website in a deal worth a reported £50 million [BBC Sport].
The 22-year-old is the Toffees’ third sale of the summer and there is hope that the fee received will provide a financial boost.
Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell has suggested that Branthwaite could be kept after selling Onana to the Villans.
Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Bardell said: “With Onana going to Villa, Everton won’t need to sell Branthwaite.
“They can afford to set their own price, if they want over £70m then he’s worth that to them.
“Manchester United might not go away because Yoro has come in but price might be an issue. If they want him then they have to pay what Everton want.
“It could carry on throughout the window but they have to stick to their guns on Branthwaite unless United pay the money.“
Everton could keep Jarrad Branthwaite after Amadou Onana sale
There has been consistent links between Branthwaite and Manchester United throughout the summer transfer window.
It had been reported by James Ducker earlier in the window (14 June) that the Toffees wanted a fee in the region of £70m for the centre back.
There is no doubt that the Everton takeover failure has had an impact but the Red Devils look set to now end their transfer pursuit [Irish Independent].
This will have been helped by the sale of Onana who had fallen out of favour under Sean Dyche towards the end of last season.

The Toffees boss could be more keen to keep hold of the 22-year-old defender, ahead of the Belgian, beyond this season after such a positive campaign.
