Armando Broja transfer update emerges as Everton look to fend off Brentford threat

Everton are considering a new approach for both Armando Broja amid interest in the Chelsea striker this summer, Caught Offside reports.

According to the outlet’s website on 26 July the Toffees are weighing up contacting the Stamford Bridge side again as the Albanian is also a target at AC Milan and Brentford.

Broja, 22, is said to be waiting for the second half of August to see if the Serie A giants will come in for him, while Ivan Toney could leave the Bees to bring them forward for the Chelsea man.

Everton are watching these potential developments with interest as they decide what action to take on their own potential move.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin in line to leave Everton

Broja has been linked throughout the transfer window, seemingly above other striker options, suggesting there is genuine interest at Goodison Park.

But since a move is essentially going to be to replace Dominic Calvert-Lewin [The Athletic, 16 July] the Englishman surely needs to be found a new home first.

The transfer collapse has apparently ended hopes of him signing an extension to his contract so attempts are to be made to offload him [Paul Joyce, 19 July] but despite a number of teams being linked there are said to be no buyers currently [Ian Croll, 26 July].

That suggests his asking price is seen as too high, but depending how low it would have to go it might end up being worth more to Sean Dyche and Everton if he is on the pitch rather than the proceeds in the bank.

If a striker signing hinges on one being sold then it seems fairly likely that this situation will not see concrete movement until the final stages of the transfer window.

But it looks like the club have identified their top option if they are in the market, with Beto and Youssef Chermiti also in the squad along with Neal Maupay.

In other Everton news, a triple-Toffees transfer update has emerged on targets to strengthen all three phases of Dyche’s squad.
