Jake O’Brien arrives for Everton medical as new transfer update emerges
Jake O’Brien has arrived on Merseyside to complete his medical with Everton ahead of his transfer, according to the Irish Examiner.
The outlet reported on its website on Monday (29 July) that the Ireland international, who had attracted interest from several Premier League clubs this summer, has arrived to complete his tests with the Toffees.
Reports had suggested the 23-year-old was due to undergo the first part of his medical today [Liverpool Echo, 29 July] as the Blues look to make him their fifth first-team addition of the summer for a fee in the region of £16.9million [Fabrizio Romano, 28 July].
Will Jake O’Brien exit Lyon amid Everton summer transfer update?
It hasn’t exactly been the best-kept secret in the footballing world over the last few days, but it seems as though O’Brien’s move to Goodison Park is edging closer with each passing hour of the summer transfer window.
Although Dyche has a settled centre-back pairing of Jarrad Branthwaite and James Tarkwoski, the Blues have been lacking depth in defence during pre-season and new additions simply had to be a priority this summer.
Whether or not O’Brien will immediately step into the fold and take on a starting role under the Everton boss remains to be seen, but it feels more likely that he will follow the path of Branthwaite and earn his place from the bench.

Hopefully, his medical will be completed without any problems as it would be a massive blow to the Toffees if this deal fell through at the last minute, especially with the new Premier League campaign looming.
If all goes to plan, it shouldn’t be too long before an official announcement emerges from the Blues in the coming days or maybe even hours.
