Everton make approach for Boulaye Dia transfer in new request
Everton have made requests to sign Salernitana striker Boulaye Dia before 30 August, according to Corriere Dello Sport.
The newspaper reported in its print edition (August 5, page 37) that other Premier League clubs, such as Newcastle, were also in the running for the attacker.
This comes after the Toffees have been on the lookout for added power to their strikeforce following the poor form of players such as Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto.
Boulaye Dia would be something of a risk for Everton
Sean Dyche has already put his team through a lot of change this transfer window with the likes of Iliman Ndiaye and Jesper Lindstrom both arriving.
Whilst it’s clear that Everton wants to bolster their attacking ranks, it feels as if they’ve focused on the wrong areas thus far.
Of course, Dwight McNeil and Jack Harrison could be improved upon but the fact that Arnaut Danjuma has now exited the club has left the side down a striker.
The Villareal man could also be deployed on the wing but the form of Calvert-Lewin and Beto meant that the Dutchman was used centrally quite often.
Ndiaye is another curious case [Liverpool ECHO, 24 July] because, whilst he could be deployed as a number nine, his favoured role is as a shadow striker.

So, whilst on paper a move for Dia might make sense, it feels as if there are plenty of better options out there.
He was part of a team that was relegated from the Serie A last term and he only managed to score a total of four goals across all competitions.
Although a new number nine is needed, the 27-year-old doesn’t feel like the right man for the job.
