Chelsea to sell Everton target Armando Broja after big-money striker transfer now agreed
Chelsea are now looking to sell Everton target Armando Broja before the transfer deadline after agreeing a deal to sign Samu Omorodion, according to The Mirror.
In a report on the paper’s website on 7 August the Toffees are named as along with AC Milan, Southampton, Wolves and Monaco as suitors for the Albanian international amid a wait to see if any are ready to come forward as takers now.
Chelsea are set to sign Atletico Madrid’s Omorodion for £34.5million and therefore plan to shift two of their current strikers in Broja and David Datro Fofana. Talks are now set to “intensify” over the pair’s futures.
Everton were recently said to be weighing up a new approach for Broja [Caught Offside, 26 July], after talks were reported between the two sides earlier in the summer [Ben Jacobs, 9 June].
Beto and Dominic Calvert-Lewin exit-linked at Everton
Sean Dyche may have been interested in a new goalscorer whatever happened entering the summer after the Toffees struggled in front of goal last term.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s contract status has made that more of a pressing issue, although it remains to be seen whether a buyer will be found.
There is said to be a split at Goodison Park over whether he has to be sold before the deadline or if losing him for free next summer would be acceptable [Liverpool Echo, 3 August], with a new deal now not likely after the collapse of the Dan Friedkin takeover [Times, 19 July].
Now Beto has emerged as a transfer target for Atalanta after a serious injury to ex-West Ham striker Gianluca Scamacca [Tutto Atalanta, 14 August], while an encouraging preseason from Youssef Chermiti has seen him ruled out long-term with a foot injury.

If neither of the senior strikers do depart it is hard to see Everton being able to carry four on the wage bill given the delicate finances, and that is even if Neal Maupay is found a new home.
Dyche seems likely to require a left-back and a midfielder before anything else but the club have been eyeing Broja for at least two years now [Evening Standard] and a sudden exit could make a striker the top priority again fast.
In other Everton news, transfer offers have now emerged as the Toffees position themselves to sign a new international midfielder.
