Everton final Premier League position predicted by super computer, relegation favourites named

Everton have been given a 9.2 per cent chance of being relegated from the Premier League this season, according to Opta’s super computer.

The Toffees are predicted to finish thirteenth in the league this season, and across 10,000 Opta Analyst simulations they averaged 46.7 points – over 16 points clear of the relegation zone.

Leicester City, Ipswich Town and Southampton are predicted to return to the Championship after one season back in the top flight.

Everton are predicted to avoid relegation this season

Sean Dyche made great strides as Everton manager last season, guiding his side to a fifteenth-place finish in the league despite two point deductions imposed by the Premier League for breaching their Profit and Sustainability Rules.

Everton had flirted with relegation for two years before last season and relied on a final-day goal from Abdoulaye Doucoure against Bournemouth to retain their Premier League status in the 2022/23 season.

The simulation will change throughout the season and is powered by real-life data, but the early signs are positive for the Blues as they aim to build on last season’s controversial campaign.

As things stand, the super computer gives the Toffees a 14.7 per cent chance of finishing in the top eight, which could result in a European spot depending on co-efficient, and a 29.6 per cent chance of finishing in the top half of the table.

That is a remarkable turnaround for Dyche’s side, who once saw their relegation odds double from the supercomputer following their second points deduction last term.

Everton have avoided more PSR sanctions, raising enough funds in time for the 30 June deadline, but the club’s long-term future is still in doubt with Farhad Moshiri eager to sell up [Stefan Borson].

It is a positive sign for the club amid all the off-the-pitch drama at Goodison Park, and the fear of relegation should be a distant memory for supporters.

Anything is possible ahead of the 2024/25 Premier League season and this campaign could be one to remember for Everton fans if the super computer predictions ring true.
