Manchester City make Kalvin Phillips exit decision amid Everton transfer interest

Manchester City are now willing to accept sending Kalvin Phillips on loan amid transfer interest from Everton, according to the Manchester Evening News.

The outlet reported on its website on Monday (12 August) that the Toffees alongside Premier League rivals Ipswich Town and Fulham are keen to secure the 28-year-old’s signature this summer.

Pep Guardiola’s side had been eager to sell the midfielder permanently this summer, but the Premier League champions could now be ready to sanction a temporary exit as Phillips looks for a new challenge.

Everton have been linked with the England international throughout the entirety of the summer transfer window, but Sean Dyche’s side is expected to only have the financial muscle to complete a loan move [Alex Crook, 23 July].

Will Kalvin Phillips exit Manchester City amid Everton transfer rumours?

Dyche and Kevin Thelwell have added to this Everton squad excellently over the course of the summer transfer window, but they haven’t been able to add any more Premier League experience to their team.

The likes of Jake O’Brien, Iliman Nidaye and Jasper Lindstrom have all impressed in other leagues, but they don’t really know what it takes to be a success in what is arguably the most competitive and challenging league in the world.

Phillips may have had a difficult couple of years following his move to Manchester City, but he knows what it takes to be competitive at this level and that cannot be undervalued heading into the new campaign.

Dyche has made no secret of his desire to not only bolster his midfield this summer but also add that touch of experience and on the face of it, the Manchester City man appears to tick all of those boxes.

Now that the terms of the deal appear to have shifted towards the sort of deal the Blues can afford, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the Toffees moved quickly to try and secure Phillips’ signature ahead of their rivals.
