Scott McTominay exit update at Manchester United as Everton make transfer enquiry
Everton have made an enquiry over Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay ahead of the transfer deadline, according to The Athletic.
The outlet reported in its transfer deal sheet on Tuesday (13 August) that Sean Dyche’s side, Brentford, Galatasaray and Fenerbache have asked about the Scotland international’s availability this summer.
Fulham remain interested having seen offers rejected for the midfielder’s services and Manchester United are thought to be willing to accept a bid in the region of £25million before the end of August.
However, McTominay will only exit Old Trafford if he feels that the club is right for him in the next stage of his playing career.
Will Scott McTominay exit Manchester United amid Everton transfer interest?
Dyche is eager to bolster his midfield options before the transfer window slams shut and the Everton boss has also been on the lookout for some more Premier League experience to add to his ranks in the coming weeks.
Although a deal for McTominay would be expensive, it would tick both of those boxes as the Scottish international has been a regular in the Manchester United first-team for much of the last decade.
Whether or not the remainder of the Blues’ transfer budget could stretch to the £25million that United are looking for this summer is up for debate, especially as the takeover drama continues at Goodison Park ahead of the new campaign.
But the opportunity to play regular first-team football under Dyche may be enough to tempt McTominay into calling time on his spell at Old Trafford. He won’t want to leave the Red Devils for any old club, but Everton isn’t any old club.

Now that the Toffees have made an enquiry, they will have a rough understanding of whether there is a deal there to be struck. Should the terms be favourable to Dyche’s side, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see an official bid lodged sooner rather than later.
Hopefully, United and Everton’s dealings earlier in the transfer window won’t have put too much of a strain on the two club’s business relationship.
