Everton could meet Vitor Roque demands with new transfer on cards before August 30

Everton could pay up to £29.5million to meet Barcelona’s transfer demands for Vitor Roque, according to Sport.

The Spanish newspaper reported [14 August, page 5] that the Toffees sent an initial offer of £21.4million plus £2.6million in add-ons, one which was instantly rejected, but are now in negotiations with Deco to get a deal done.

It is understood that, with Barcelona now setting their demands between £25.6million and £29.5million, the proposal could be reached by the Merseyside club due to the “economic potential” that English clubs have.

Everton to sign Barcelona striker Vitor Roque?

Fans who have known Roque since his early days in Brazil have been surprised by the La Liga club’s treatment of the forward since arriving in Europe in January.

Having broken into the Athletico Paranaense squad as a young teenager, Roque went on to notch 28 goals and 11 assists before earning his move to Spain.

He has since only made 16 appearances, with only two of them being La Liga starts, but has still managed to hit the back of the net twice, scoring in cameos against Osasuna and Deportivo Alaves.

While there are several financial concerns surrounding Goodison Park, especially after Dan Friedkin’s takeover deal collapsed earlier this summer, Sean Dyche and Kevin Thelwell’s plans continued without a hitch.

This would suggest that the signing of Roque is definitely plausible this summer, though it could mean that the exit-linked Dominic Calvert-Lewin edges closer to a move elsewhere.

The Merseyside club’s attacking lineup was often criticised last season, with only Sheffield United scoring fewer Premier League goals, which has led to the additions of Iliman Ndiaye and Jesper Lindstrom.

With a few weeks remaining until the summer transfer window closes, Dyche is unlikely to be done revamping his squad ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
