Everton takeover timeline emerges after John Textor developments at Goodison Park
John Textor is not yet close to a deal to take over the controlling stake of Farhad Moshiri of Everton but progress has been made, according to BBC Sport.
In a report by Shamoon Hafez [15 August], a deal is claimed not to be imminent but that discussions have taken place.
This follows the news that Textor, who owns a 45 per cent stake in Crystal Palace, has been granted a period of exclusivity in talks with Moshiri [David Ornstein, 15 August].
John Textor talks with Everton an interesting situation
At this stage for Everton fans, many of the hopes will be that it is a case of third-time lucky.
With Moshiri accused of having zero active influence inside the club and playing favourites with interested consortiums – namely 777 Partners – the Toffees support want to see a positive end to a ridiculously protracted saga.
Following assured discussions between Moshiri and the Friedkin Group, the collapse of that mooted deal was a blow which dragged Everton entirely back to square one.

Whilst Textor – owner of Lyon and Botafogo – was not considered in the running until recently, a corner has at least been turned, with the major obstacle being the Premier League rules which stipulate no individual can have a majority stake in two clubs.
The American is actively seeking to sell his shares in Palace as quickly as possible, so he can have a far more dominant cut of the business operations on Merseyside.
In other Everton news, Alan Myers has predicted the club are likely to sign a new left-back.
