Everton face late pressure in the race for Barcelona ace Vitor Roque

Everton need to act fast if they are to finalise a move for Barcelona striker Vitor Roque with increased interest in the forward.

Real Sociedad have joined FC Porto and Sporting CP as rivals to the Blues for his signature [Bruno Andrade, 16 August].

Barcelona rejected a bid worth £23.9m from Everton on Tuesday [Mundo Deportivo], the La Liga side are waiting on an offer that meets their valuation but could be tempted with a loan bid with either an option or obligation to buy at the end of the season.

Will Everton sign Vitor Roque?

Once in a blue moon will a club like Everton get the chance to sign a promising young talent from Barcelona, Sean Dyche needs to take this opportunity with both hands.

The Brazilian is keen to remain in Europe after an underwhelming season in Spain last term and, has rejected an approach from Saudi Arabia [Sport] to continue his European journey to develop into a top-level talent.

He has all the qualities to fulfill his dream, all he needs is an environment where he can learn the tools of the trade and regular football in a top-tier league, and Goodison Park could be the perfect destination.

Roque fits the new-found transfer strategy at the Blues, they have moved from acquiring players with high potential on the back of a poor season and are now looking at young talent with high re-sale value in the future, and luckily for Dyche, Roque fits the bill twice.

The futures of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto will be a determining factor in the decision, Robert Lewandowski limited the Brazilian to only 12 outings last season and will be eager to avoid a similar scenario at Goodison Park.

Everton need to put all their eggs in one basket with Roque, a player of his talent doesn’t come along often and certainly won’t in the final few weeks of the transfer window.
