Largie Ramazani in contract negotiations as latest Everton transfer update emerges

Largie Ramazani is now in talks to renew his Almeria contract despite Everton transfer speculation, according to Harry Watkinson.

The TEAMtalk journalist reported via X on 16 August that the former Belgian Under-21 international is negotiating with his current club to extend his deal in Spain amid widespread interest in signing him.

Everton and Leeds United as well as Greek side AEK Athens and Turkish outfit Besiktas like the 23-year-old, with TEAMtalk reporting on 11 August that Ramazani was on the Toffees’ shortlist of attacking targets for if Dominic Calvert-Lewin should leave.

The winger, who can also play up front, was said to be available for around £6million and was open to a Goodison Park switch.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin could leave Everton, Willy Gnonto deal failed

Sean Dyche has been looking to strengthen his attacking options this summer after being left thin in those areas last season.

Jack Harrison’s return was followed by a permanent move for Iliman Ndiaye and the loan-to-buy arrival of Jesper Lindstrom.

But Willy Gnonto remained on the cards from Leeds United for some time until the pursuit got bogged down for a second year running [The Athletic, 6 August].

And while there are technically four senior strikers at Goodison currently there is precious little certainty around the position, with Calvert-Lewin’s contract situation leaving him open to an exit at any point, and Calcio Mercato reporting on 7 August that Beto is also wanted by Atalanta.

Youssef Chermiti is out for weeks with a foot injury and Neal Maupay is one player the club are said to have been looking to offload as it is [Watkinson, 1 August], so Ramazani’s ability to cover as a striker and a wide man makes him an attractive option.

Almeria were relegated from La Liga last term and has currently got less than 12 months on his contract, making him a prime option for interested sides.

But after TEAMtalk reported on 7 August he had so far refused and extension it seems something has changed his mind, although if Calvert-Lewin doesn’t leave, with offers not currently forthcoming, it may be a moot point [i News, 12 August].

In other Everton news, the Toffees have been offered the chance to sign a striker from the Champions League finalists.
