John Terry sends two-word message as Everton finalise new arrival
John Terry has sent a two-word message to Asmir Begovic as he announced his return to Everton.
The Bosnian rejoined the Blues on Friday 23 August after the expiry of his contract with Queens Park Rangers, who he departed Goodison Park for in 2023.
Begovic confirmed the move on his Instagram account [23 August] and Terry, who spent two years with the goalkeeper at Chelsea, responded to the news on his post.
He wrote: “Good luck @asmir1.”
Everton re-sign Asmir Begovic
In a bizarre turn of events, the 37-year-old finds himself back on Merseyside in a move that has baffled supporters as he resumes his role as deputy to Jordan Pickford.
On paper, the move doesn’t make sense as Begovic is unlikely to see the pitch unless the Blues get a favourable draw in the domestic competitions and it pushes current number two Joao Virginia further down the pecking order.
In most cases, gaining a more reliable deputy is a good move but Pickford is rarely out of the Goodison Park net and could quite easily go an entire campaign with no back-up.
Begovic enjoyed plenty of first-team football in the Championship last term and at this stage of his career is a better fit for his current ability.

Sean Dyche has signed Begovic for a specific purpose, to add professionalism and Premier League experience to his Everton dressing room.
If the Blues are to avoid a relegation battle this season, having the calming presence of the Bosnian in the dressing room will go a long way in calming the nerves of his teammates.
Everton fans are right to question the move with more pressing positions needing attention in the transfer market, however, Begovic is joining to help impact the squad rather than impact the pitch and when that makes sense, so does this move.
