Sean Dyche makes Dominic Calvert-Lewin Everton exit admission before August 30

Everton manager Sean Dyche has refused to rule out the sale of Dominic Calvert-Lewin before the 30 August transfer deadline.

Calvert-Lewin has been linked with a Goodison Park exit all summer [talkSPORT] and with only seven days left of the summer transfer window, could still face an Everton exit.

The Blues will face Tottenham on Saturday [24 August] with only 14 first-team players available and, despite not wanting to weaken the squad further, Dyche admitted that a suitable offer for any of his players will be considered.

“Any offer of a certain level would have to be still looked at by the club,” he said to the Daily Mail [22 August].

“We are in a better position because of how we have [done] player trading and how much we have lowered the wages but it is not solved. There would still be a moment where the big people at the club get a phone call and go, ‘Right, here’s the reality, we’ve been offered this’.

“And then it is down to them. I can give a football opinion, I think we all would (want to keep Calvert-Lewin) wouldn’t we? I think we would all go, ‘We don’t need to be selling anyone at the minute’.”

Will Everton sell Dominic Calvert-Lewin?

Everton need to do all they can to hold on to the 27-year-old before the transfer window slams shut on 30 August.

The situation is far from ideal for the Toffees, Dyche had hoped to bring in a striker this summer but as Armando Broja closes on a move to Ipswich Town [Fabrizio Romano] and Vitor Roque set to spend the season at Real Betis from Barcelona [Mundo Deportivo] there are limited options left on the market.

Calvert-Lewin hardly set the world alight last season with a return of seven Premier League goals but as the clock ticks down, the Blues would be best served holding on to him.

He knows the club inside and out and at this stage of the window, would have to accept a nominal fee for his sale compared to how much the Blues stood to earn had he completed a move to Newcastle United in June [The Telegraph].

Unless an opportunity arises in the final days of the summer, consider this matter a closed case, Everton will not sanction the sale of their star striker without a replacement lined up.

The 3-0 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion was a testament to the Blues’ lack of firepower up top and ideally, a new number nine would be walking through the door at Goodison Park.

With that now unlikely to happen, the Blues need to restore their faith in Calvert-Lewin and help the out-of-sorts forward regain his confidence and fire Everton back into the top half of the Premier League this season.
